Cinnabar Theater presents social comedy "We Won’t Pay! We Won’t Pay!" by Dario Fo, translated by Ron Jenkins.

Desperate efforts "to make ends meet" becomes a comical tangle of escapades in "We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!" - a farce featuring a comic duo who experience escapades reminiscent of the Lucy and Ethel characters in "I Love Lucy."

After participating in a riot protesting the high prices at a local grocery store, two women find themselves tangled in a web of lies involving groceries and a fake pregnancy. Oh boy, these two will have some real explaining to do.

A period of struggle and tough economic times serves as the backdrop for this comedy of "hunger" which examines how humor prevails over desperation.

"The antics are reminiscent of the escapades of Lucy and Ethel from the original 'I Love Lucy' television series," wrote Ron Jenkins, the play's translator and Professor of Theater at Wesleyan University. Dario Fo's play has also been described by various critics as "Karl Marx meeting Groucho Marx."
