THE LION KING SHN Orpheum Theater 11/1-1/13/2013
The Lion King is on tour and hits the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, CA, showing from 1 Nov 2012 to 13 Jan 2013.
Disney presents a musical that brings THE LION KING'S wildly popular story, the Oscar winning Elton John / Tim Rice songs, and an entire African landscape to the stage.
Directed and designed by Tony Award winner Julie Taymor, THE LION KING fills the theatre with sights and sounds of one of Broadway's most imaginative new talents - all to bring new life to Disneys crowd pleasing story of a young princes adventure-filled journey to adulthood - and the throne.
Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap! The entire savanna comes to life and, as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly rises out of the stage. This is The Lion King. The winner of six 1998 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical, it is the story of a young lion cub named Simba who struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role as king.
To bring the classic 1994 film to life, Disney turned to the story's roots, its rich mythology, powerful human drama and primal African rhythms to create a fantastic new musical unlike anything Broadway has ever seen.

With this ferociously rollicking account of the McCourt Brothers' life in impoverished Ireland and their escape to America, poverty and strife has never been so funny. Tim Kniffin and Steven Abbott take on a panoply of characters from relatives to rogues, fools to petty tyrants. It's the hilarious upside to McCourt's bestseller, "Angela's Ashes." As one critic claimed, "If you don't have a good evening, you should have yourself checked to make sure you didn't die during the day."

DANCE RUSH Palace of Fine Arts 1/11-1/20/2013
DANCE RUSH - THE SHOW is the most dazzling dance show ever staged; it touches hearts and astounds with fantastic choreography, cinematographic visual effects and elaborate costumes!! This brand new 90-minute mega-production brings together 40 high calibre dancers and a crew from the shining Islands of southern Europe - Malta, at the heart of the Mediterranean Sea.
DANCE RUSH - THE SHOW first came to life in 2009 when Yada's Dance Company Director, Felix Busuttil, stumbled across a motion picture August Rush, the story of an orphaned child who channels his parents' existence through his amazing genetic ability to listen, re-create and master the music. Felix was so moved by the film's musical sensibility that he felt compelled to create a dance theatre piece. This story of a child's journey has been transformed by Dance Rush to express humanity's timeless and universal connection through music and movement highlighting Jazz Dance, Ballet, Folk and Contemporary styles.
