The Shirelles, the originators of rock and roll's Girl Group Sound, will appear at The Rrazz Room, Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, SF June 16-June 20 at 8 PM and June 21 at 7 PM. Tickets are $42.50- $50 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com or directly through www.ticketweb.com or 866 468 3399.

While few performers can sustain a high visibility presence in the pop culture for 50 years, The Shirelles, members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and true trend setters, are still at it. Their long string of hits include Soldier Boy, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Dedicated To The One I Love, Mama Said, and more!
Beginning as New Jersey schoolgirls, The Shirelles quickly became rock & roll's first female supergroup and were the inspirations for a legion of female groups that followed. Beverly Lee began harmonizing on doo-wop songs with schoolmates and wrote the song "I Met Him on a Sunday." It was a hit at their high school assembly, and one of the mothers financed a recording.

They joined Scepter Records, one of the great independent R&B labels on Broadway, where the Shirelles were the top group. Burt Bacharach got his start writing and arranging "Baby It's You" for the Shirelles, Dionne Warwick used to work with the group (and will be at the Rrazz Room in October), and The Beatles recorded "Boys" which they heard on the B-side to the Shirelles classic "Will You Love Me Tomorrow."
Since their 1958 debut at the New York's legendary Apollo Theater, The Shirelles have graced virtually every important stage in the world, countless supper clubs, discos, state fairs, hotel ballrooms and casinos. The lasting appeal of their classic hits is so broad that they continue to be heard daily on a wide variety of radio formats. The Shirelles songs have also been featured in scores of films and TV shows.
