Virginia Woolf Begins at Golden Gate Theatre April 11

The national tour of the award-winning Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? hits San Francisco after successful runs on Broadway and in London.  Performances begin April 11 at the Golden Gate Theatre (opening April 13) through May 12.

"Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is the classic story of George and Martha, two of the most famous roles ever written for film and stage," states press notes, "Over the course of one wickedly hilarious evening, the cocktails come out and the gloves come off as this riveting duo takes their two young guests on the ride of their lives, proving that modern marriage is a battlefield all its own. Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is presented as apart of the 2006-2007 Best of Broadway season, brought to you by Citibank, under the direction of Carole Shorenstein Hays."

This production stars Bill Irwin in his Tony Award-winning role as George, opposite Kathleen Turner.  Also starring Kathleen Early and David Furr.  Directed by Anthony Page.

Show times are Tuesdays – Saturdays at 8PM; Saturday and Sunday at 2PM; Thursday April 12 at 2PM; and Wednesday May 9 at 2PM.
