Theatre Exile Returns To The Fringe With IRON, Opens 9/11

Theatre Exile launches our 2010/2011 season with the Philadelphia Premiere of Iron by Rona Munro. Directed by Deborah Block, Exile's co-artistic director and the founding program director of the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, Iron runs September 8th through October 10th at Theatre Exile's new Studio X, with the press opening Saturday, September 11th at 8pm.

Tartaglia will present music from IMAGINOCEAN, and he and the cast members will sign copies of the show's original Off-Broadway cast recording.

Stiefel '7@7' reading series. The Village Theatre of Issaquah, Washington, where STUNT GIRL was first presented in 2005, has now reported that Brian Yorkey, bookwriter and lyricist of NEXT TO NORMAL and former artistic director of the Village Theatre, will direct the reading.

LuPone, Stroman, et al to be Featured in NYC Ballet's 2010-2011 Season

The New York City Ballet has announced its 2010-2011 season. The season will include some works new to the company, such as a new ballet by acclaimed theater choreographer Susan Stroman (CONTACT, THE PRODUCERS) and a production of Kurt Weill's THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS starring Patti LuPone. It will also include some old favorites such as THE NUTCRACKER, choreographed by George Balanchine, and SWAN LAKE.

On May 25 at 10am, Obie and Drama Desk award-winning Broadway actress Kathleen Chalfant will deliver the keynote address at The Cooper Union's 151st Commencement. Chalfant has performed in major productions in New York, Los Angeles and London. Well known to audiences for her portrayal of Vivian Bearing in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Wit, Ms. Chalfant received the Obie Award, Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award, Drama League Award and Los Angeles Ovation Award, among others, for her performance. Among her numerous honors, she was acclaimed for her Tony-nominated performance as Hannah Pitt in Tony Kushner's Angels in America: Millennium Approaches on Broadway and received her second Obie Award for her performance in Talking Heads. In 1996, Chalfant made her Shakespearean debut in the Public Theater's Henry V, for which she received that year's Calloway Award for Best Classical Performance.
