Playwright/director Chelsea Sutton's latest SPITE & MALICE premieres March 22, 2021 as one of the thirteen projects in RealTime Intervention's POST THEATRICAL. An homage to her grandmother, SPITE & MALICE has the audience interacting with the SPITE & MALICE actors, using materials mailed to the ticket holder. The busy, multi-project-juggling Chelsea managed to find a few moments to answer my inquiries.

A collective of 13 theater companies and individual artists from 8 cities across the globe have joined forces for POST THEATRICAL, a festival of works that use mail as a theatrical medium. The only Los Angeles-based project, the interactive fantasy SPITE & MALICE, runs March 22 - April 30, 2021 and is helmed by local award-winning writer/director Chelsea Sutton. 

It has been called the most important photograph ever taken-an image that led to a breakthrough in genetics research. The X-ray crystallographer who took it, Rosalind Franklin, is at the heart of Anna Ziegler's Photograph 51, next up on South Coast Repertory's Julianne Argyros Stage, directed by Kimberly Senior, March 3-24. Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA's world premiere of playwright Marek Glinski's PIGS AND CHICKENS presents a vivid send-up of exaggerated composites of co-workers Glinski at one time had to work with (as he writes in the program notes). Hard to imagine having to spend forty hours a week working with these unlikeable people, after the two hours in the theatre watching Glinski's PIGS AND CHICKENS.

42nd Street Moon's 20th anniversary season kicks off on Monday, June 18, 2012 with Ticket to the Moon, a gala evening celebrating Moon's past, present and future. Activities at the Alcazar Theatre on Geary Street begins at 5:30 pm with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by a performance at 7 pm, directed and narrated by Moon's Artistic Director, Greg MacKellan.

For one magical evening, the company will celebrate the songs that kept the home fires burning (and singing) during World War II, and others that reflected the jubilation and prosperity of the post-war era.

42nd Street Moon's final production of the season, Very Warm for May, is the company's first show in the Jerome Kern Celebration and spotlights Kern's final Broadway score and will end its run at the Eureka Theatre on May 24.
